Honeymoon Suites
The Four Seasons Florence has been created from two Renaissance palaces, which were in private hands for centuries. It has taken a staggering seven years to convert these grand buildings into a luxury hotel, but now that it’s open guests can see why. The hotel is filled with original artworks, which have been carefully restored, while the guest rooms have all the features one would expect of a modern five star hotel. The main part of the new Four Seasons has been created from the 15th-century Palazzo della Gherardesca. By the entrance is a glass covered courtyard which is surrounded by bas-reliefs depicting vivid classical scenes. Some of the rooms off here are gems in themselves: there’s a small business centre that is covered in frescoes and a little meeting room that has been created from the original chapel.
Four Seasons Spa
If guests are on their honeymoon or a romantic city break in Florence, then they might want to push the boat out and book one of the sumptuous suites on the ‘noble’ floor (they should check the state of their credit cards first [link widoczny dla zalogowanych]!). These suites are pretty well the last word in luxury. The suites have ceilings covered with lively, colourful frescoes – all original works of art. There are Murano glass chandeliers, richly coloured fabrics, silk wallpaper and features like deep sunken baths that look as if they could accommodate four people at once. The Royal Suite and Presidential Suite are both so lavish guests willl feel as if they’re staying in their own private palace. The less expensive rooms in the hotel lack the frescoes and lavish features of the suites, but they’re still very comfortable.
Renaissance Palaces
The new Four Seasons is just on the edge of the historic centre of Florence. It’s about 10 minutes’ walk to the Duomo, and a little less to the Accademia, where Michelangelo’s David is on display. The hotel doesn’t only offer luxurious accommodation [link widoczny dla zalogowanych], an excellent restaurant and great service, it also has a large garden – a rarity in Florence. The garden sits between the two palaces that comprise the hotel. It’s great to come back here after a hot day’s sightseeing and relax under the cool trees. The garden also houses the Four Seasons spa and outdoor swimming pool. This hotel is that rare thing - a place that really does live up to its own publicity.
