forested areas of India houses 2000 avi-faunal species, 3,500 species of mammals, nearly 3000 species of insects and more than 1, 500 varieties of factories. Globetrotters from various edges of earth visit India to have a see on its wealthy and unlike plant and wildlife.
Among entire its wildlife species, the majestic big cats of deep forest i.e Tigers have a special magnitude in the heart of Indians. Earlier world's 60% of Tiger population was available in India. But, due to redundant hounding during the erstwhile princely epoch, Tiger's population have drastically decreased in India. Even during 1950s and early 1960s it namely recorded that more than 3,000 tigers lost their lives to trophy hunters, most of these creature tourists. The premier ever all India tiger census in 1972 shockingly revealed the subsistence of merely 1827 tigers.
So, to shield these precious animals from extinction, 'Project Tiger' was initiated in India.
Launch Of Project Tiger:
During the tenure of conservation-minded late Prime Minister, Indira Gandhi, an intent project to defend the population of Tigers in India was launched. The “Project Tiger” was formed in 1972 and launched on Ist April 1973 at Jim Corbett National Park by Uttaranchal.
Aims Of Project Tiger:
Indian Government has fired Project Tiger to achieve these intentions such as
1.To assure conservation of a viable population of tigers in India for technological [link widoczny dla zalogowanych], economic, aesthetic, cultural and ecological values.
2.To maintain, for all times, areas of such biological importance as a national heritage for the behalf, pedagogy and enjoyment of the folk.
Project Tiger Reserves In India:
With the commencement of Project tiger in 1973, several Tiger Reserves were constructed in another states of the nation, aboard the root of “Core-buffer” tactics. According to this strategy,
the essence places were freed from all people activities and the buffer areas were to have 'conservation oriented land use'.
Initially [link widoczny dla zalogowanych], during the period of 1973-74, nine tiger reserves were created in different eco-systems of the country namely Corbett (Uttaranchal), Manas (Assam), Ranthambore (Rajasthan), Sunderbans (West Bengal)Palamau (Bihar), Similipal (Orissa), Kanha Melghat (Maharashtra), and Bandipur (Karnataka). At present there are 37 Tiger Reserves in all country. Some of the most celebrated Tiger Reserves of India are
Jim Corbett Tiger Reserve: As the appoint recommend, Jim Corbett Tiger Reserve is a significant part of Corbett National Park of Uttaranchal. Being the first venue for inauguration of Project Tiger in India, Jim Corbett National Park houses 138 Tigers(1997 census). The native area of the Park was 323.75 sq. km. to which 197.07 sq. km. was joined afterward. In the year 1991, one area of 797.72 sq. km. was joined as buffer of the Corbett Tiger Reserve to the actual land area. Due to its situation in the foothills of the Central Himalayas either Himalayan and peninsular flora and fauna are available in the reserve, which includes 585 species of resident and migratory birds and various kinds of mammals.
Manas Tiger Reserve: This Tiger Reserve was likewise established in the year 1973 covering six regions of Assam namely Kokrajhar, Bongaigaon [link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Barpeta, Nalbari, Kamrup and Darrang. Barnadi Wildlife Sanctuary is situated in the buffer of the Reserve. Located on the northern bank of Brahmaputra river and criss-crossed along numerous rivers within the reserve, Manas Tiger Reserve is blessed with magnificent biodiversity. This Tiger Reserve is embellished with various kinds of jungles like Sal jungles, moist-deciduous jungles, secluded patches of ever-green forests, riverine forests, grasslands of both savannah and terai types, and miscellaneous forests. These forested areas provides asylum to great number of Tigers as well as prey species: Hog deer, Sambar, Swamp deer, Asiatic wild buffalo and Gaur.
Kanha Tiger Reserve: Located in the "Maikal" hills
