Occupation: Supervisor with Merchandise Mart Properties
Age: 38
Education: T.W. Andrews High School, GTCC, ECPI
Address: 2109 Lowe Ave., High Point
Website/blog/email address:cjwilliams7@hotmail.com

Why have you chosen to run for this office?
I think there should be improved communications between the community of Ward 2 and city hall. I believe our ward has missed many opportunities for development and growth. We intend to change that.
Key qualifications you would bring to the job: I grew up in Ward 2 and, for the past 10 years through outreach events, mentorship programs and ministries, I have worked to better our ward.
What distinguishes you most from your opponent(s)?
I believe in building community involvement. I know if we would better inform and involve more of our constituents on what’s going on in their city (it would) create a more community-friendly city government.
Key campaign issues and your stances on those issues (briefly, please): I’ll keep this short. Economic development, safe neighborhoods, institute community organization and development, bridge the gap between the community of Ward 2 and city hall.
Where do you stand on economic incentives?
I believe they work as long as there are requirements and benchmarks in place that maximize the benefits between both the incoming company and the citizens of the city.
What vote or decision of the council would you overturn? Why do you disagree with the decision?
One decision I would change is the current bus system. I think it lags behind our neighboring cities. Many of our citizens who can’t afford personal transportation are missing second and third shift employment opportunities and jobs that are in locations that the bus route doesn’t cover.
How can the city help the growth of locally-owned, small businesses?
Incentives like new hire subsidies, expertise financial and marketing management programs and effective city and financial institutions partnership loans.
