Rock climbing is great exercise, and a fascinating sport. The beginning rock climber needs to learn the rules of the sport and how to use the necessary climbing equipment. Climbing shoes

Quickdraw
Climbers need approximately a dozen quickdraws which are used to attach a freely running rope to anchors or chocks.

The first one to climb the route is the lead climber. This climber is protected by the rope attached to his harness. The belayer runs his rope through a belay device attached to his harness and feeds rope out as the lead climber gets higher.
A bolt is a permanent anchor that has been drilled into the rock. The lead climber rises to the first bolt on the rock wall. The bolt has a metal loop attached which the lead climbers uses to attach a quickdraw to connect his rope to the bolt. The lead hooks on a carabiner on one end of a quickdraw to the bolt. He runs the rope through the second carabiner on the other end of the quickdraw. The lead climber moves up the route checking each bolt as he goes.

Then the belayer can lower him to the ground if he has been injured in the fall. Without mishap, the lead climber will climb to a ledge, tie into an anchor, and the two switch positions and continue the climb.
